Many deposits of diverse minerals have been discovered and explored on the territory of the Kyrgyz Republic, allowing for operations of many corporations in the area of non-ferrous metallurgy and the gold mining industry. However, more deposits are waiting to be discovered and explored.

Sub-soil use in the Kyrgyz Republic is regulated by the Law on Underground Resources (July 2,1997, as amended on July 21, 1999) and a number of other legislative acts. Concession rights for exploration and operation of a mineral deposit are issued on equal terms to domestic and foreign corporations or joint ventures, as well as private persons. Concession rights are granted through direct negotiations based on the principle of first application. For geological operations, concession rights are granted for a period of 10 years. For exploitation, they are granted for the period of the project's operation or until full depletion of the reserves. A sub-soil user, who discovered or prospected a deposit, has an indisputable exclusive right to its exploitation. The law describes and governs pledging the concession rights or transferring those to another sub-soil user.

A brief outline of the most promising deposits of gold, beryllium, tungsten, tin, rare-earth and other minerals is given below (all figures have been formatted according to European standards). For each deposit investors are sought. Specifics of the investment, its conditions as well as return on investment can be discussed on ŕ case-by-case basis:

The brief items of information on the most perspective deposits of gold, beryllium, wolframium, tin, rare-earth and other mineral resources are show below.

There are over 30 deposits of gold, which are known to be of commercial significance or borderline. Additionally, a number of deposits may seem ďîď-commercial, but when more deeply investigated, they may turn out to be appropriate for development. About 30 show ore with a high gold content and several hundreds show significant ore.

Currently the Kumtor, Makmal, Solton-Sary, Kuranjailyau deposits are in exploitation. The Jerooy and Taldy Bulak Levoberejnyi deposits are ready for development. Preparations for gold mining at the Jampyr and Kuru-Tegerek deposits are underway. The potential for exploitation of the Bozymchak, Nasonovskoye, Altyn-Jylga, Komator, Shiraljin and other deposits is being assessed.

The most promising gold deposits are briefly described below:

Gold

Jerooy Deposit

The deposit is located 70 km from the oblast center Talas in a developed area. The main national and oblast roads are close to the deposit, making it easy to get to. The prospected reserves and reserves approved with the USSR State Reserves Committee ("SRC") of the C1+C2 categories as of 01.01.2001 are; ore -11,854 thousand tons, gold - 74,684 kg with a mean content of 6,3 gr./t, of which: for open pit operation - 6,962 thousand tons of ore and 37,850 kg of gold with a mean content of 5,4 gr./t, for underground operation - 4,892 thousand tons of ore and 36,834 kg of gold with a mean content of 7,5 gr./t.

Has developed some versions a pre-feasibility study of the deposit's exploitation. A combined method of reserves development with a series-parallel operation of the pit and the underground mine is most we reasonable, with annual output of a gold recovery mill projected at of 850-1000 thousand tons.

Investments are required for implementation of the project.

Taldybulak Levoberejnyi Deposit

The deposit is located at a distance of 26 km from the railway station Bystrovka (the regional center of the Kemin settlement) in a developed area. A regional dirt road runs through the deposit area. The central part of the deposit was preliminary prospected. The reserves in the sum of C1+C2 categories approved by the SRC as of 01.01.2001 were as follows: ore -14,033 thousand tons and 80,381 kg of gold with a mean content of 5,73 gr./t. The projected resources total 9,2 million tons of ore and 44,4 tons of gold with a mean content of 4,8 gr./t.

“Kyrgyzaltin” prepared a feasibility study of the commercial development of the deposit (underground method). Currently the joint venture is looking for funding of tie project or a partner - investor.

Kuru-Tegerek Deposit

The deposit is located 160 km from the Maimak railway station. Not far from the deposit there is a partially dirt, partially asphalt road.

The prospected reserves of the oxidized ore in the sum of C1+C2 categories approved by the SRC as of 01.01.2001 were: ore - 2,806 thousand tons, gold - 7,500 kg with a mean content of 2,67 gr./t, copper (28,4 thousand tons) and silver (17,3t).

In 1999-2000 conducted a supplementary exploration of the oxidized ore of the deposit. Upon completion of the exploration the indicated reserves were approved by the State Committee of Reserves of the Kyrgyz Republic (TRC). In the course of work the possibility of treatment of the oxidized ore using the method of heap leaching with the level of gold and copper recovery up to 70% was confirmed. The results of the pre-feasibility study proved the possibility creation of a plant with a yield up to 16-20%. The license for developing of a deposit belongs to the foreign company. For project implementation a partner or investor is required.

Jamgyr Deposit

The deposit is located at a distance of 140 km from the railway station Maimak and approximately 20 km from the Kuru-Tegerek Deposit. An oblast road runs through the deposit area.

The explored reserves of C2 category approved by the SRC as of 01.01.2001 were: ore - 435 thousand tons, gold - 5,331 kg with a mean content of 12,26 gr./t. The projected resources total: ore - 753 thousand tons, gold - 9,523 kg with a mean content of 12,3 gr./t. In the near-surface part of the mam ore vein and to the depth of 40-50 m (gallery level) the mean content of gold is 22 gr./t. It is possible to explore other equally rich blocks. Since 2000 a local company "Jamgyr" Ltd. has been prospecting the deposit, getting it ready for development. However, implementation of the project is delayed due to lack of funds.

Chaarat Deposit

The deposit is located at a distance of 180 km from the railway station Maimak (20 km from the Kuru-Tegerek deposit). There is a dirt road leading to the deposit which is connected with the main road of the oblast.

The sum of the reserves and resources of S2+R1 categories approved by the SRC at the deposit is estimated as 30-50 tons of gold. The general perspectives of the ore body are estimated to be up to 100 tons of gold.

Based on the laboratory tests, a flotation-hydrometallurgical circuit for ore dressing with gold recovery of 68% has been recommended. The ore was also investigated for its suitability for heap leaching. The results of the tests were positive - gold recovery was up to and over 80%. The license for the deposit is held by the company "Chaarat" Ltd. with a controlling interest of a foreign company, which is in search of a partner-investor.

Altyn Jylga Deposit

The deposit is located at a distance of 230 km from Osh City (114 km from the Kyzyl-Kiya railway station)- A good dirt road leads to the deposit.

The prospected reserves of C2 category approved by the SRC as of 01.01.2001 were: ore -1,138 thousand tons, gold -8,636 kg with a mean content of 7,59 gr./t. The projected resources of P1 category amount to: ore - 2,517 thousand t, gold -13,174 kg with a mean content of 5,2 gr./t. The total perspectives of the deposits are valued at 35-40 tons of gold. Kyrgyz-Australian company research of a deposit.
